Scripture #11

It sat there, written on a sticky note stuck to the bottom of my computer screen in my work cubicle. The words stared back at me every day, gradually sinking deeper and deeper into my heart and mind. They were the words of Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Even today, 9 years later, I can quote that Scripture by heart because I hid it there during a season when I desperately needed it. I was struggling with anxiety and had been experiencing daily headaches for about a year. I had been to the doctor and was reassured that they were most likely tension headaches, but I didn't know how to make them go away. So I started memorizing God's words.

And my healing came.

Over time, day by day, I replaced the deep anxiety in my mind with this promise. I claimed it for my mind, my heart, and my body. The transformation that took place in me over the weeks and months that I memorized this Scripture remains one of the most personal and undeniable evidences for me of the power of God's Word to truly renew our minds.

I pray the same for you today, friend. I know that God's Word continues to change our minds + hearts + lives.

I invite you to join me in memorizing a new Scripture over the next 2 weeks and believe Him for the work He will do in us through His Word. If you're joining me in the Scripture Challenge for this year, this will be #11. We're almost halfway there! Take a moment to think about what you need healing from, freedom from, or a change in your mind + heart in. Choose a Scripture that will help you to replace your thoughts with the mind of Christ. The mind of the Spirit is life + peace. I'm praying for you today and cheering you on!

xoxo,

Brittany
