Scripture #4

Updated: May 18, 2019

Hey friends! It's time to memorize our 4th Scripture this year!!

Can I let you know something? Memorizing a Scripture every 2 weeks doesn't look super structured for me. I haven't been studying my index cards daily and reciting my Scriptures from dawn til dusk. Instead, I have them on my desk, in my Bible, in my journal. I pull them out and review them from time to time, and each of those steps is drawing me closer into God's truth. Don't feel that this has to be an overwhelming process or commitment. It's really just taking the next step in knowing God's Word more deeply and closely!

Today I want to use a prayer from Paul's letter to the Colossian church and pray it over you + me:

"We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with a ll power, according to His glorious might, so that you may have great endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints' inheritance in the light." (Colossians 1:9-12)

--> Walk worthy of the Lord

--> Be pleasing to Him

--> Bearing fruit

--> Growing in the knowledge of God

--> Being strengthened

--> Having great endurance and patience

And did you catch the little phrase in verse 11? "According to His glorious might." That little phrase is how we live and walk in Him, how we grow, how we bear fruit. It is HIS glorious might in us! I'm praying for you today that you will allow His glorious might in you to grow you, to bear fruit in you and through your life, and to strengthen you.

Scripture Ideas:

• "My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit." (John 15:8)

• "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You." (Isaish 26:3)

• "It is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to His good purpose." (Philippians 2:13)

• "Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:30-31)

• "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)

• "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:1-2)

• "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8)
